The project's objective is to create a mapping of all internment and detention sites established by the fascist regime between 1922 and 1945.

Currently (2025), the site lists 1142 locations divided into 15 types (confinement locations, concentration camps, prisons, prisoner of war camps, etc.), almost all accompanied by a brief descriptive sheet; it offers maps related to 15 countries (in addition to Italy, the occupied nations); a database of over 4000 digital copies of documents preserved in 30 national and foreign archives; a database of 600 photographs; a first list of names of female and male internees (about 2000); some oral testimonies and, finally, a reasoned bibliography.
